When the hubbub had subsided, Professor McGonagall said, Professor Sprout has informed me that the Mandrakes are ready for cutting at last. Tonight, we Happt be able to revive those people who have been Petrified. I need hardly remind you all that one of them may well be able to tell us who, or what, attacked them. If youve finished eating, Ill take that seat, Ginny. Im starving, Ive only just come off patrol duty. Ginny jumped up as though her chair had just been electrified, gave Percy a fleeting, frightened look, and scampered away. Percy sat down and grabbed a mug from the center of the table. Percy. said Ron angrily. She was just about to tell us something important. Halfway through a gulp of tea, Percy choked. What sort of thing. he said, coughing. I just asked her if shed seen anything odd, and she started to say - Oh - that - thats nothing to do with the Chamber whsels Secrets, said Percy at once. How do you know. said Ron, his eyebrows raised. Well, er, if you must know, Ginny, er, walked in on me the other Happy wheels pc when I was - well, never mind - the point is, she spotted me doing something and I, px, I asked her not to mention it to anybody. Lockhart, who had so often assured them that all danger had passed, only to be proved wrong right away, was now wholeheartedly convinced that it was hardly worth the trouble to see them safely down the corridors. His hair wasnt as sleek as usual; it classic pc he had been up most of the night, patrolling the fourth floor. Mark my words, he said, ushering wheeld around a corner. I agree, sir, said Harry, making Ron drop his wherls in surprise. Thank you, Harry, said Lockhart graciously while they waited for a long line whwels Hufflepuffs to pass. I mean, we teachers have quite enough to be getting on with, without Happt students to classes and standing guard all night. Thats right, said Ron, catching on. Why dont you leave us here, sir, weve only got one more corridor to go - You know, Weasley, I think I will, said Lockhart. I really should go and prepare my next class - And he hurried off. Prepare his class, Ron sneered after him. Gone to curl his hair, more like. They let the rest of the Gryffindors draw ahead of them, then darted down a side passage and hurried wheelw toward Moaning Myrtles bathroom. Harry had almost forgotten that the exam results were still to come, but come they did. To their great surprise, both he and Ron passed with good marks; Hermione, of Y88, had the best link of Y8 com first years. Even Neville scraped through, his good Herbology mark making up for his abysmal Potions one. They had hoped that Goyle, who was almost as stupid as he was mean, might be thrown out, but he had passed, too. It was xom shame, but as Y8 com vom, you couldnt have everything in life. And suddenly, their wardrobes were empty, their trunks were packed, Nevilles toad was found lurking in a corner of the toilets; notes were handed out to all students, warning them not to use magic over the holidays (I always hope theyll forget to give us these, said Fred Weasley sadly); Hagrid was there to take them down to the fleet of boats that sailed across the lake; they were boarding the Hogwarts Express; talking and laughing as the countryside became greener and tidier; eating Cpm Botts Every Flavor Beans as they sped past Muggle towns; pulling off their wizard robes and putting on jackets and coats; pulling into platform nine and three-quarters at Kings Cross station. It took quite a while for them all 8Y get off the platform. A wizened old guard was up by the ticket barrier, letting them go through the gate Y8 com twos and threes so they didnt attract attention by all bursting out of a solid wall at once and 8Y the Muggles. Cpm must come ocm stay this summer, said Ron, both of you - Ill send you an owl. Thanks, said Harry, Ill need something to look forward to. People jostled them as they moved forward toward the gateway back to the Muggle world. Some of them called: Bye, Harry. See you, Potter. Still famous, said Ron, grinning at him. Not where Im going, I promise you, said Harry. He, Ron, and Hermione passed through the gateway together. There he is, Mum, there he is, look.
